  69. I love how conservatives complain about homeless people and shame them for their situation but then blame the "Libs" for their condition to score political points by acting like they care. They also complain about how California would help the poor if they money from them but then go on to champion capitalism. They call the Dems socialists then criticise the Dems for being greedy capitalists who dont actually care about the homeless... ironic. We need actual Leftists to come in and disrupt this system and give the people their basic dignity back. These people, these homeless people, they need homes. That would help out so much, but oh no, "free shit" how dare those dirty commies give people homes who desperately need them so they can move forward! The despair of being without a home harms us mentally, making the potentially already underlying mental health issues wayy worse. Its not a lack of character. Rarely ever is. It can happen to best of us. Those who dont have mental issues fell victim to circumstance. The cost of living, healthcare costs, low wages... For those who DO have mental health problems, many dont need to be locked away in a facility. That's not the answer. The majority need assistance but they first need a home, then we can truly help them mend. No more shaming these people. Do you want drug addicts on the street or in their homes or safe places where they can be monitored? Im not supporting drug abuse or drug usage but alot of these people do drugs after becoming homeless, not before. So many of you are a paycheck or unexpected emergency away from it. I've lived in my car for years. Im disabled. Its really fucking hard. And the hate and the discrimination you get, the dirty looks and comments...even though i shower at the gym. It's awful. You are always self conscious. Afraid the cops will tell you to leave or that someone will harass you. No one knows how hard it is to get benefits from the government either. They act like its easy... its not easy. It takes years for most people to get approved, often with lawyers. And the amount you get? Not nearly enough to live anywhere. Housing should be a right. Healthcare should be a right, including mental healthcare services.

  83. Men should compete with men. Women with women. Para-athletes with para-athletes. Trans athletes with trans athletes. Pretty simple. I don't know why we are even talking about this. Im Left wing, a genuine lefty, socialist. But i acknowledge science and the realities in our material world that are objective, science should not be political. Yes it's becoming political. Right wingers are anti-abortion despite the science around it. "Left" wingers are pushing gender theory which is not based in science or is at least overpowered by biology, physiology and evolutionary psychology. Right wingers deny climate change. Left wingers report that masculinity is harmful and dangerous... Its ridiculous. And lets talk about the gender issue. How can someone identify as a woman if what makes a woman a woman is merely a social construct that either doesn't exist or is on a never ending spectrum? How can someone FEEL like they are a woman? Isnt that promoting gender stereotypes and roles? Roles and stereotypes that are claimed to be socially constructed? And if someone doesn't identify as either male or female then how do they compete in sports? If someone chooses to transition then we are acknowledging that there is a binary and that you are going from one to the other. If gender is a social construct then why do you need to transition? HOW can someone transition if gender doesnt exist it is on an endless spectrum? And which is it? Is it on a spectrum or does it not exist? Because it can't be both. Its either an endless personal and individual identity, in which case the law should have no say or involvement in it because at that point its not something that can be followed. At that point gender is the same as personality. And if it doesn't exist at all then why have this conversation? Why claim to be anything? Why try to place a gender label on yourself if it is a purely cultural phenomenon that isnt based in evolution? At that point we go right back to where we were, we go back to understanding that our biological sex is how we should base our society and not our gender. Men can wear dresses and makeup, that's called a drag queen. It may be creepy to some, but its a way of life for others. Solved, done. A woman can be "butch" or a tomboy androgynous but so what? Should they identify as a different gender in order to rally against the social norms built by the dreaded patriarchy? Or should they be content with who they are? Why make a big a deal about it? If someone has gender dysphoria or an intersex condition then of course they are outside the norm, just like children born with extra toes or born conjoined are outside the norm. They aren't less human, they are people with a medical condition or abnormality. And dont gender theorists who refuse to allow studies to prove its a psychological disorder realize they are further stigmatizing the idea that if you have a disorder then you are less than. It perpetuates the lie that people who are or have emotional and psychiatric disorders like bi-polar disorder, anxiety, people on the autism spectrum and so on should feel ashamed that they have these issues. Its insulting to people like me who DO suffer from some of these mental and behavioral disorders. I want more studies to be done on the conditions i and other have to better be knowledgeable about them. But suppressing scientific inquiries about trans conditions is not only counter opposite to what they usually champion, which is "liberation" but its also furthering the myth that people either dont have disorders and should people just accept them without trying to help them and it leads to the ignorant stance that if they have a disorder that that is a bad thing. As for the bathroom issue, if a man wants to use the women restroom but identifies as a woman in that moment who are you to say otherwise? Who are you to tell him he needs to feminize himself to appear more like a woman to use the women's restroom? Because now what we are saying is you can only be considered a woman if you dress a certain or look a certain way. We shouldnt discriminate against a "man" who chooses not to change their appearance at all but stil identify as "female" because they dont believe that women should have to dress or look a certain way to be female. Maybe they dont identify as anything... what then? What bathroom do they use? Should we just have co-ed bathrooms everywhere? But if we did then that is harmful to the rest of society who isnt comfortable with that. My mom isnt sharing a bathroom with a man. Im not sharing a bathroom with a woman. Many people will feel too uncomfortable and if say "oh just get over it" then what we are saying is that "cisgender" people's feelings dont matter but trans-people do. Also how can anyone truly be cisgender if gender is just a social construct? Just use the family bathroom... I know this has been alot to read but i just needed to rant. Thank you for reading (if you did) and please take what i say with consideration. I have done much research into this topic but i dont know everything, but i want to know more which is why we should encourage further studies to better understand how this all works. Trans folks and non-binary people who read this (if you do) please understand that you are not less than human for how you feel but i firmly believe that you should accept your non-conformity and leave it at that. Changing and demanding others acknowledge that you have somehow switched genders, do not have a gender, can switch back and forth between them or fall somewhere on the "spectrum" is not beneficial to you or society. Accept who you are. Unless of course you have an actual medical condition such as gender identity disorder, which i hope you seek help for as their is nothing wrong with having a disorder.

  95. Men are depressed because women nowadays are a bunch of whores who don't want to pair up but instead want to feel "sexually liberated". There are negative male stereotypes but the stereotypes we often talk about aren't what is actually harmful. And its young men who are suffering nowadays. Old people need to be in group homes to keep social. Young men are overworked, pressured to be rich, stable, confident and narrow in ideals. Most men can't achieve that, especially in this economy. Women also thrust social pressures on men to live up to unbelievable standards. But men can be all sorts of things. But manliness and womanly are not cultural. And if they are its because nature pushed us in that direction. Men and women evolved differently, men evolved to be "manly" and women to be feminine. But in this day in age where that isn't so necessary we can allow for some wiggle room. Not every man is a Chad, not every man should be or has to be. But we do need to push ourselves to be the best we can be in whatever way we can. If society tells us as men to like a certain type of woman then thats just the way it is but i haven't experienced this. Many men like bigger women. I LOVE chubby girls and thick girls. Very sexy to me. No one told me to and some people give me shit for it but i dont care. If you let that bother you then that is YOUR problem. You can easily say "fuck this, i like what i like and you can shove it". But if you don then that is just falling to peer pressure. Not everyone is as strong willed as me, i get it. But we gotta move past this idea that our environment causes everything. I also stress that our environment tplays a big role and that we aren't truly autonomous beings. But there is a balance that exists. You can say "NO" to others and you can be impeded greatly by your situation that might require external assistance to get you out. Both are true and both can happen. Just saying. This mans girlfriend is gorgeous btw.

  106. This is the problem with Tim's argument. He is complaining that a select few will "have" to work while the majority are automated out of the workforce. But, we already have to work in order to survive because that is how capitalism works. You sell yourself and your labor to be paid a wage that you can use to purchase things you as an individual deem necessary. In a socialist economy work is the incentive, not wealth gain. Work becomes, as Marx stated, "life's prime want". We as individuals can decide for ourselves what we want to contribute and how and who who we wish to associate with to contribute. We focus on our own interests and abilities, hence the term, "each according to ones ability" and provide that to the world. For example, a chef makes food not to make money but to feed others and know they satisfied someone else with their effort. The same thing goes for the developer of a video game. They make the game for people to enjoy because they want the public to experience their creation. Thats the incentive. Not the perverted incentive of capital accumulation. I agree automation need to be limited or even illegal in certain industries. Automation for large factories and manufacturing plants should be fully automated but because of this, the community should have access to everything produced by these robots instead of the capitalist reaping the profit. UBI is not the solution it is a stepping stone to the solution, which is, equal access to the means of production. UBI slightly imitates this by giving money to people in order to have access to certain things at a limited level. Family, free association and achieving the best of your ability become the meaning of society and life instead of working for a wage or accumulating wealth.

  121. So i wrote a WHOLE LOT and for some reason it didn't send. Which infuriates me. So ill shorten it this time the best i can without muddling up the point. I dont care about these immigrants like many others do, im sorry. But my priorities are on the American citizens who are falling behind and failing. Immigrants and illegal immigrants in particular get all the attention and all the sympathy we can offer while millions of Americans dont even have healthcare coverage or the millions more who are underinsured. 40,000 or die a year from not having health insurance or being afraid it will cost too much. Around 500,000 people suffer medical bankruptcies a year. Yet illegal immigrants are given healthcare from OUR tax dollars. American citizens are fighting tooth an nail for universal healthcare and here are these non citizens benefiting from that before we do! They go to university for FREE while our youth drown in debt from trying to get an education to advance in the world and innovate. Yet we instead bring over foreigners to take these high positions, to get the glory and the accolades. We give grants to immigrants to invest in businesses so they can be shown that the "American dream" exists and is alive, then they bring over their family to reap the benefits of this alongside them. I know a Chinese family who owns a restaurant who benefits from this. Why do entrepreneurial citizens not get the same respect? Why do we not invest in our communities, more specifically our lower income communities? Invest in infrastructure, small business and worker cooperatives? We can actually learn a thing or two from these immigrants who run these businesses essentially like a business coop similar to how Joey mentioned. They assist one another and work together instead of competing against one another. We should do the same, we should be invested in the same way. No more subsidies to large companies. Instead lets help subsidize small business and local markets. What about the alarming homeless crisis in this country that is exacerbated by illegal immigrants, who interestingly enough aren't typically victims of homelessness...hmm, i wonder why? Over 560,000 homeless people survive in the US and that is a flawed conservative estimate that is based on poor data and abilities to track all the people living in the woods, in their cars (i can tell you there are so many people living in cars) and not in shelters or after a day long head count once or twice a year. Where are these homeless peoples economic opportunity huh? We care about immigrants economic opportunities and desire for a future but what about the homeless people who deserve that same right and even more so. Immigrants, especially illegal ones get priority while we ignore the hundreds of thousands of homeless people who are shamed and blamed for the situation they are in, all the while immigrants are just victims who need help and who came in or are in a bad spot. Well so are homeless people. Afraid of being arrested simply for existing. Wondering if a cop will tell them to leave where they are sleeping, be arrested for loitering or for illegally sleeping "in public". Worrying about when we will get our next meal. How they will pay for gas or how to ride the bus to get to work or to somewhere with a roof during the day, assuming they don't get told to leave. Whether on the streets or in a car they are forced to survive in the heat of summer, the cold of summer and the rain. Immigrants distract us from focusing on homelessness. They receive housing and own property while American citizens, often military vets, abused women and/or children and the disabled are forced to live on their own in the elements without a bed to sleep at night. It sickens me. Homelessness is almost never in the news and when it is it is only for literally five minutes and then we go back to bitching about a dumb tweet or about immigrants and their rights being violated. What about the rights of failing Americans? Why don't they get the attention? Why arent their needs payed attention to? Why does no one care about my needs, my mothers needs or the thousand of other victims in a similar situation desperate and alone, much like these immigrants, who seek a roof over their head and the opportunity to start a better life? Immigrants whether intentionally or not (and i dont believe it is intentional) make matters worse. We deport too few and don't turn away enough. We have our asylum laws being exploited. People skip the line and refuse to show up at hearings. They run around the country undocumented to do whatever they like. They demand to be let it. But we cant let every person or family who shows up to the border to be let in. "Ok im here, let me in" is not a reasonable policy. We use xenophobia and racism as excuses not to look at the applications towards stricter border security and immigration control. Its all to shame people who have a different opinion other than the one liberals and libertarians use to appeal to sympathetic bleeding hearts and big corporations who exploit them. If a business hires an illegal immigrant they should be fined. They should be required to inform the government when one applies. We champion illegal crossing and allow them to get off scott free, with no repercussions for violating the law and the legal process. No respect for us or other immigrants coming in the right way so why should they get the same respect? They should pay fines for illegally staying here. The longer they stayed illegally, the larger the fine. If they have been here more than 3 years and haven't committed a crime like fraud (which is hard to believe) or a violent act then they can get a path to become a permanent resident, but not a citizen. They lost that privilege when they arrived here illegally to leech off the system whose benefits should go to the American people. I care about low income people who are disproportionately affected by mass immigration and illegal immigration. About the workers impacted and the wages. I strive for Medicare for all, UBI, affordable education and other programs that support the well being of our citizens but illegal immigrants threaten that. Poor communities, black communities and even immigrant communities are negatively impacted by mass and illegal immigration. A form of gentrification called immigentrification occurs and pushes the people out of their own communities, displacing many. They contribute to rising housing costs and low wages and hurt those who are already most vulnerable. The immigration issue is a distraction from the real problems and the elite members of society know this. Republicans use this to their advantage to halt progress. Democrats use this to shame Republicans for these problems even though Republicans didnt cause them, they are just banking off them. I am against mass immigration, i am against outsourcing, i am against corporations from exploiting this opportunity and the people. I am for the American people. I fight low income housing, community homes and public housing. I am for investing in our infrastructure, especially in our most forgotten and left behind communities. I am for supporting small business, worker cooperatives and local markets. I support a universal basic income and a Green New Deal that tackles the issue of the massive corporations contributing the most to negatively affecting our environment instead of being told to recycle or use paper straws... Although im a Lefty, i do not support what is essentially open border policy. Immigrants are more of a burden than a benefit nowadays. Look at Europe as an example. Look at our own country. We claim we were founded as a nation of immigrants, duh, every country basically is. But those immigrants, also known as colonizers are routinely shit on for coming here are wreaking havoc. Our ancestors came here illegally by the way... and we shame them for that but also use that as an excuse for their own agenda to defend these modern immigrants. We cant take all these people in. We have 12 million already here illegally and even though we cant possibly deport all of them we have to do something. Until we solve our problems, immigration is going to have to wait. The border and the immigrants attempting to come here are going to have to wait. Just like how my mom is waiting for healthcare to deal with her diabetes and arthritis. Or how im waiting for roof over my head and kitchen to cook my own food and make my own recipes to sell to the community and contribute to the economy. I want my economic opportunity. And until me and other Americans like me get the assistance WE NEED im sorry but my sympathy for these immigrants will be limited.

  161. I know everyone to the right of me is gonna get triggered but here me out... Gavin is an asshole, that's his schtick. He's supposed to be. I have no issue with that, but some of the things he says I genuinely cant tell if they are what he actually believes. My issue is with the Proud Boys themselves who beat people up just as much if not more than Antifa. They talk about how manly they are but then are proud when they beat up (often in a pack) these skinny, women looking protesters. Many of the members have genuinely been linked to racists and white hate groups, and many have been recorded (their own recording) saying truly atrocious things. The Proud Boys aren't a fraternity group anymore, they are a violent gang. As for the bad members of Proud Boys and how when you have a big group, you will have idiots, you have to apply that to Antifa as well. You talk about how the left used to be a bunch of hippies and got mauled by police. Yes, then punk rock took off and they became "pissed off hippies" who fought actual neo Nazis and other similar groups in the 80s and 90s. They became Antifa as we know them today. And it worked, the neo nazi movement got kicked back underground. Punks are supposed to be "violent", they fight back. And I've seen many videos that are supposed to make Antifa look like the bad side and i leave thinkin, "Antifa really weren't the bad guys here". Then I have also seen people who identify under the Antifa moniker who do dumb shit. Its to be expected. They are so wrapped up in fighting the enemy that they create their own, sometimes ones that shouldn't be. As for the trans thing, that's what we are seeing now. More and more kids identifying as trans or non binary because it's glorified in the media. It's horrible. These kids should just embrace their individuality and not focus so much on changing themselves to feel better about themselves. Often with no success. I don't think (in fact I know) Gavin should not have been banned from social media, but he did advocate violence. There is no getting around that.

  214. This idea that paying the unwilling to work is insane is what is actually insane. That part of the bill is a universal basic income program. That everyone will receive a basic amount every month. You nor anyone can or should dictate what another's lifestyle is especially if it is not affecting. We are not values solely off the labor we contribute. We are more than mindless workers. The idea that alot of people won't work at all is very little. Eventually even of not right away, most of them will decide and discover a way to earn money. For thd super small minority who never work, who cares what they do? They wont be rich and you will still have money an more money than them. You will also be receiving the same check as them only you will have more money due to the fact that you work. What constitutes work? Streaming? That is a way to earn money. and typically when we think of someone not working we think of a gamer on his couch. Those gamers have a way to earn money now. You don't get to decide a person's path in life. And those people should not die because of their choices that are not inherently harmful. I'd they choose to spend that check on drugs and die, then you can blame them for their stupidity. But the the whole point of advancing the world is so we don't have to work so hard, to benefit us and make life easier. Now when we have the possibility of doing that, you two are shitting on that idea. It doesn't make any sense. Also, that money the recieve will be spent on food, gas, accessories, pleasentries and other consumer products. So they will still contribute.
