  1. Orban does not leave the EU by his own decision because Putin wants him in the EU, so Orban can disrupt EU and contribute to undermine democracy. Orban knows, if he leaves the EU, Putin will not have much interest on him anymore. He is only of Putin’s interests while he can do the dirt work Putin wants him to do. SHAME

  2. I think Sachs could be clearer if he separated the trade deficit and the deficit of the US government. They are interconnected but have different origins and effects. The government deficit happens because it spends more than it earns in revenues. The trade deficit happens because the US as a whole imports more goods and services than it exports. A government can run a surplus but the country as a whole can have a trade deficit. Trump is engaged in reckless management of government deficits (increasing debts and decreasing revenue, with inconsistent tax cuts and overspending here and there) and with the delusion that: reducing trade deficit will foster internal investment; and tariffs will increase the government revenues. Tariffs are not bringing money from abroad, they are only making American paying more for the same products they buy, what reduces the imports therefore keeping tariff revenues at the same level. So, it would be nice to see these things explained more clearly.
