This is why if you buy a brand new EV and for some reason need to replace the battery right away, you find out the battery replacement alone costs more than you just paid for the car. How is this possible? It's because there's a hidden subsidy to the EV manufacturers that comes from the taxpayers, again. You're already paying for half of the production cost of each EV, even if you never buy one yourself.
