  1. Mechanics need to influence car manufacturing, starting with the concepts. Create open standards cars, like they did with IBM PC clones. Or maybe start with farm equipment.

  2. In China they call it "tofu dregs" construction. Chinese businesses don't have a community orientation at all. They are aimed at short term profits, like a con artist, and moving on. The only way we get any quality out of China is when a foreign company contracting for manufacture stops working with bad Chinese companies and finds ones with better quality control. Even so, it is a constant battle.
