  1. IMO, if Xi chooses war, that will be when the PLA abandons him. The PLA does NOT want war. In times of peace, the generals live like kings. But when war starts, that's when the generals get judged. They aren't going to want to put themselves into that kind of situation. The PLA would find it easier and more palatable to replace Xi. This is one of the reasons why China is most dangerous to their own people. They would rather do a loyalty purge of millions of Chinese, which is a politically safe thing for the leaders, than start a foreign war that they are not guaranteed to win.
