In a way, long long long before video games, music was like a video game. You could follow along with it as someone else played, or you could play the game of music yourself. When you play the game of music, you try to find the right notes in a sequence, and "right" is defined by the sound you want to hear, the sound you think sounds most interesting or proper for that moment. But you have to find it, and play it correctly, which takes practice. As you continue playing the instrument, you get better and better at both playing in an interesting way and finding the right notes. It's a fair bit like a game. When you have a good segment of music, then you want to save it, and maybe choose your next new mission or level to play. Or you might find a friend who plays the game of music, and play together.
