I feel comfortable referring to it as a medieval influence, which partly influenced modern folk, and this to me is an important part of rock that we started to get in roughly 1965 up till about maybe Seal's "Kiss From a Rose," and then it started to vanish, at least in popular music. I think it's the combination of medievalism and blues that makes interesting rock music.
