Been saying it for years. Men have the heroic ideal, and they have had it since the beginning of western civilization. It basically IS the beginning of western civilization. But what ideal do women have that is comparable? Something that inspires them to be better people? Feminism is NOT it. Disney princess is NOT it. Girlboss is NOT it. For a long time, women had an ideal to be the best wife and mother. But they laugh at this now. Yet if you grew up with a bad mother, wouldn't you want one that was actually good? Wouldn't that make a huge difference in the life of everybody, if they were raised by great mothers? If that's not the right ideal for women, I don't know what is. Men want to be the best husband / father.

@rumorcontrol7873 I think the story that tells the female ideal has to be a family drama that begins with a romance and then travels through the next two generations, meeting the challenges of keeping the family together and well despite the turmoil of the world. The mother has to be the person who tells the kids and grandkids that they can always come home, but they should expect mom / grandma to help them fix their wings so they can fly. That is not the kind of story that catches the attention of males, but near as I can tell, it's what women naturally gravitate towards. Men use their story to civilize themselves and cooperate to build a great world. Women need to find their similar story that reins in their destructive instincts.

@crestinglight Perhaps. I'm not sure women really want that AND role. Yes, there can be the good woman who is a scientist, doctor, businesswoman, or whatever. But I don't think most women naturally lean that direction. I think they go that way out of fear, because they are naturally fear-based instead of faith based, for hormonal reasons, and feminism has taught them to fear men. Part of the feminine ideal has to be learning to be faithful, and approaching life with faith, because that is a big part the elderly female advice to all of the children. "Be faithful, allow yourself to grow and mature, and exit the cocoon as the butterfly you were meant to be." Isn't that something an ideal female Merlin (mentor) would say?
