State-sponsored welfare is the worst solution, almost always. That's so-called "social justice." This is the reason for why the US went against the counsel of the Founding Fathers and instituted the federal income tax: to feed the poor. Now they use the taxes for all kinds of crazy control schemes and endless warfare, and the poor are still there. Citizens taking care of citizens on their own ... that's the right way to go. And the authorities don't want us doing that. Ask yourself why. As for protestors, they're just supposed to hold signs, to speak and be seen, but they're not supposed to be rioting or blocking traffic. That's not fair to the rest of the citizens.
