  1. Blah blah blah. So difficult to find people who will tell the truth in the news media. The debt ceiling has to be raised before the debt can be paid down. It's a matter of time and momentum. The state is like an oil tanker, and you can't just spin it around. Even if you throw the engines in full reverse, you can't overcome inertia immediately. It's also like repairing an old car instead of buying a new one. You need to get new money either way, but usually less to repair.
