  2. Earth's climate is - by nature - endlessly variable, not a steady state. We're ignorant of a lot of what's going on and why. It's important to remember that in roughly the era of the Little Ice Age, Europe began terraforming ... draining swamps to produce forests for timber, meadows for grazing, and causing the near elimination of malaria in the temperate northern hemisphere. Did the release of methane from draining the swamps warm us up and out of the Little Ice Age? IDK. But the Little Ice Age was a time of crop failures, famines, and pandemics, so surely it's good to be out of that time. Are we getting a surge of methane in the atmosphere due to the continued practice of draining swamps? IDK. But more people die from it being cold than from it being warm.
