Toyota is a MESS right now. Did they hire ex-Stellantis executives?

IMO, Toyota was right with their original plan and this new plan is a mistake. No nation's grid is going to be able to drop gas stations and instead send all of that energy through an electrical grid. I'm fine with PHEV, but not all elelctric. Probably what Toyota is going to do is simply take hybrids and drop the gas engine. Voila! An EV is born.

IMO, there's going to be huge demand.

IMO, Toyoda knows his company and its potential much better than the younger executives.

Companies that were making windfall profits are going to try to structure things to hang onto those profits. That's happening all over ... like in shipping, now that the congestion has largely cleared up, they're going to start scrapping ships to bring the number of ships down, which will artificially keep the price of shipping high. I think the scenario we're likely to see is where demand suddenly falls off a cliff. Already we're hearing that Walmart and others are canceling billions in orders. It should affect all but luxury items.

I would rather have a Toyota than a Tesla, and I don't have brand loyalty. I only briefly had an old used Toyota years ago. IMO, the design is far better. At this point, we can still get gas, while it won't take many more EVs before they're causing the grid to collapse.

Are the seats uncomfortable? Is there enough leg room in the rear seating?

This is just a small tweak on already existing plans. And it's possible that the actual numbers produced may be small.

IIRC, Toyota has a poor turning radius. They say they do it for stability. Since these are almost certainly hybrids, with the batteries low, could they take advantage of this lower center of weight and give us a better turning radius? I bet they don't. Sad that Jeep beats them on this.

Are the seats comfortable? I've heard they are not.

While I like the general look of this Cruiser, and would wish for the RAV4 and 4Runner to absorb up to about 20% of it, I think the idea of making it an EV is extremely bougie. Any practical outdoorsy vehicle should be a hybrid. This Cruiser will be suitable for the urbanites who drive Jeep Wranglers simply because they like the chunky styling.

This one lacks a HUD. And does anyone really prefer segregated trunk space? It seems like a hatch would be so much better. I'm looking at this Crown and then at the Highlander, and thinking the Highlander is a better designed car for the same money.

Oh good ... maybe I can order a 2023 and by the time I get it, it will be a PHEV. ;)
