  1. If the skull tops are hunting trophies, isn't it a bit weak to call that ritualistic or a CULT? You just bring them over to brag about how big it was, and it stays there for everyone to see. Social, yes, but ritualistic?

  2. I see two concurrent methods of domestication. One, I think larger clans of humans would hunt mammoths by driving them off cliff. This would require one group of hunters as drivers, and one group of guards at the base of the cliff. Humans would give portions of the kill to whatever predators showed up, preferably wolves. Once fed, a pack would keep track of the humans as a food source, and learn to show up at the base of the cliff. The presence of the wolves would help deter other predators. The second method of domestication is where humans would find abandoned wolf cubs. Humans take in any kind of abandoned animal, and wolf cubs would become loyal members of the human tribe ... at least while young.
