There are so many women as leads in action / thrillers these days. You can pretty much watch them continuously. The problem is not female leads. There's nothing wrong with that. The problem is when they take an established male and castrate him, turning him into a joke character, and then they make the lead female an unstoppable Mary Sue. It's bad fan service, bad branding, and bad writing ... which makes for an all-around bad production.
