  1. The problem here is that state legislatures would be able to overrule the people. If the popular vote elects a senator of one party, but the legislature is won by the other party, now they can get rid of the senator that the people elected. I think the legislature should only be able to force a new election for the senator.

  3. Giving the legislature the power to remove a senator is a bad idea. The vote of the people should not be erased by the legislature. Put him up for another vote.
