This dog was in the home of an infected person, and of course it breathed in small particals of virus, which again of course would be picked up on a nasal swab. However, there was no indication that the dog waa suffering from COVID19. All this really proves is that dogs can pick up the virus in the same way as humans, by breathing as we all do. I would have thought that was obvious. This story seems to be about semantics. There was no underlying evidence of the dog being infected, except that it had particals of the virus in its system.

@susanly4941 i agree with you. Furthermore, there was no evidence to prove the dog was producing the virus and secondly, it is my understanding that the testing procedures were vastly different to the tests performed on humans. What they found was in fact so minute in volume, that they called it weak positive.

@kewlztertc5386 there is a difference between the virus and the disease. The dog showed particles of COV2 virus, but no signs of Infection (disease) which the they named COVID19

@q_q123 i agree by the dictionary definition of infected to include contaminated, i think the word contaminated would be more apt. Futhermore, the dog was exposed to high levels of the virus, and these findings seem to indicate that the dogs immune system was destroying the virus, with this low reading being what is left in its system. I think this event was published way to soon. On the premise of these results, it could also be reasonable to suggest that every mouse, rat and possibly even some insects in Wuhan, could also be infected (or could that be contaminated). Where does this stop?

@kewlztertc5386 a dog is only infected if it is expelling the virus, which it was not.

@Barceman i dont suggest to cover up any information. It is possible for the virus to survive for some time in that environment where it was discovered, but in my view not possible to reproduce, as it requires an appropriate cell, in which to "sporn". Yes, in China some pets were thrown off buildings and killed in the early stages of the virus. I still hold my position, that the results should not have been released until conclusive. Yes, as i said earlier, a product of its environment. People should always be careful and aware at these times.
