When is a Federal Minister, going to shut his mouth up in respect to state affairs, especially when his own reputation is at question? It is bad enough we have overseas interference, without involving our own federal politicians! Perhaps Queensland and the Northern Territory could buy the airline together. Hmm, now what to call it?

The difference with Japan is that they tried to hide from the virus due to the pending Olympic Games. Once it was deferred, the real extent of the infections was known. So Japan us not a good comparison. Nontheless, they need to continue the high levels of testing, to catch the virus early. Some shutdowns may be inevitable.

@AG-ig8uf but selling government assets to foreign entities is ok ? Think about history, and how such events have caused rack and ruin. Take electricty, and i suggest you think about it. There are thousands of jobs involved, and the potential of a single dominance of the market. List the pros and the cons, then it will become clearer.

@AG-ig8uf you seem to be under the impression, you buy the airline, you take up the debt. That is incorrect. You buy the assets, take over leases and pay any goodwill, if there is any value there. The federal government is still a substantial stakeholder in QANTAS. There is little difference. The qld gov only wants part of a stake.

@AG-ig8uf you do not buy the airline with the debt, you take over the assets. Do not buy the company, unless there is a cash back transaction to cover excess debt over value. I am well aware of corporate law, as i have intimate knowledge of account p & p.

@Plethorality QANTAS stands for Queensland And Northern Territory Air Services
