Contrary to popular world opinion, to be vaccinated or not vaccinated is still the choice of the individual in China. A large proportion of elderly people have a fear of vaccines, which is the greatest hurdle to overcome. They cannot and will not be forced to be vaccinated, thus the extreme measures to protect them. Only education about vaccination may help, but is it too late?

Hi Cyrus, good video. I have just subscribed to you. To be up front, i am not American and i live in China. I am at the age where i can remember a very well respected president in the USA, who created one of the best quotes, which should be used at the forefront of this pandemic. You have by now undoubtedly recalled the President who comes to mind, as John F Kennedy. He quoted, and my words may not be exact as i am working on memory, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but for what you can do for your country". These became very famous words, and reflect where America with all its patriotism should be today. This should again be the slogan for fighting the pandemic as a way of unifying the American public, against a common enemy not being China, not being Russia, not being North Korea, but in actual fact being COVID19.

I see competing at the Olympics as and individuals personal achievement, at the highest level, with little to do with which country you come from. The competition is staged by the International Olympic Committee, not by a country and representatives are nominated by Sports associations from all over the world, representing the olympic committee nominating them. Medial tallys by country is done by the Main Stream Media, and always has been, but has nothing to do with the country they necessarily live in or come from. A classic example at these games is a woman Mogul skier from Australia, Jakara Anthony who won a gold medal at the Olympics. Facilities for Mogul Skiing are very limited in Australia, thus most is done overseas, such as in U.S. and Canada. Thus the end result winning at the highest level is a personal achievement, not that of their country. Jakara should receive the congratulations she deserves for such personal achievement.

Cyrus, keep an eye on the current Delta variant outbreak in Putian, Fujian province, an outbreak brought in by returning man, passing it on to his children and in turn other students. It is highlighting the problem which is not being recognized anywhere else in the world. 16 out of 22 cases found up to yesterday were Asymptomatic. These are the super spreaders, and in most countries in the world, they are focusing on symptomatic for testing. The difference of course being that China tests everyone. I am pretty sure they will bring this under control within a short period of time. The other important factor in China is that positive cases generally do not home isolate. They are taken to a quarantine hospital or facility where they are monitored and frequently tested. In the west, too many people requested to home isolate because they have the virus, still go out!

I often watch Yonda of the south china morning post on Youtube, whom i quite admire for what he says on issues in respect to Hong Kong. I would love to hear a response from him and his comments on this reporting by Mr Young. Yonda often has issues with the trivialities where they detract attention from the real issues. Come on Yonda, i admire your Youtube videos, and would love to hear your response as a senior representative of the SCMP!

It is difficult to believe Biden is good for America, when in announcing the beginning of the AUKUS Alliance, he cannot remember the name of one of the two only partners to America in this alliance, maybe his greatest embarrassment since taking office. To me, it would seem that he and his team have coerced the UK and Australia to Shill for America, the aim being to direct them against China, with a lesser direct, but greater indirect, involvement by the US. Unfortunately, this will cost Australia economically and will in my thinking most likely send the country into recession. It is most unfortunate that the Australian government does not recognize that "The Mouse That Roared", was not based on a reality, but was only a fairytale.

@Epistemophilia7 that is the job of doctors, to advise on pre existing conditions. My parents in law are in that position of underlying medical issues, thus we took them to discuss with the doctor, who still recommended the vaccination, thus both were vaccinated to double dose. However, they still fear vaccination, and do not want the booster. This is with Chinese vaccines, which are standard type vaccines, like any other vaccine people get. There has to be an education blitz, to target the elderly to receive all three doses. In Shanghai, i believe on 62% of the elderly population have been vaccinated to the booster stage. So there is a huge potential for deaths, which nobody wants.

Biden asked Xi to stop the PLA airforce flyover sorties near Taiwan to which Xi replied this was easily solved if the U.S. Navy would stop their military exercises in the South China sea. I did not see how this was resolved, but a good response from Xi.

@ecofriendly0 as much as my opinion may agree with you, it cannot be said to be factual. As much as the scientists, epidemiologists and other medical professionals give governments advice, the decisions made are still political, hence would include what you have said. In Australia, the government will be facing an election within the next twelve months, so all decisions are political, attempting political support.

Some things which should be noted: people in China are just like people anywhere else in the world, and there will always be some who do not conform to requests such as self isolation due to being a close contact of an infected person. As a result some were forced to remain in their homes by having action taken including doors being welded, which gave western media a field day. Of course, nothing was mentioned about these people receiving daily supplies of fresh food and where necessary medicine, delivered directly to them. Then the western press had a field day with the use of the word "draconian". Virologists and epidemiologists the world over all agree that draconian means are the only way to stop a pandemic. Of course most countries have not gone hard with these "draconian" lockdowns, and the results can be seen. Just look at Europe and North America. The only countries to have followed such means seem to be Australia and New Zealand, and now look at their results. I recall in March last year, i was encouraging everyone i knew to wear a mask if possible, not to prevent catching the virus, but instead to minimize the chance of its spread. Unbelieveable as it may sound, although i was laughed at, at that time, it is now mandated in many places. So let's stop criticizing and or blaming China, and start reflecting on our own actions, or should i say inactions!

So please explain and prove firstly how they did not cooperate and secondly where is the proof it came from the Wuhan Institute of Virology? But let me remind you, he always said, he had this under control, from the very first cases. They want to control the world, which is very easily seen with establishment of more then 800 military bases around the world. So how many does China have? You can likely count that on one hand. You say "the same rules as everyone else". As long as these are American rules!

The last thing i want to see is any country called "the leader of the world", but would rather see world leaders. Being " the leader" can imply some form of dictatorship, whereas "world leaders" implies collaboration with other leaders. You be the judge, which is best?
