Peter Hartcher surprisingly knows very little about China and Xi Jinping. He does not even know the correct name of the founder of the CPC, which is in fact Mao Zedong. Put the 14 points to the Australian public, and ask what they think. They are the result of narrow minded loud mouthed uncontrolled politicians, most who have nothing to do with China, do not know China and have never been there.

@chrizzle6222 you obviously went to China with a feeling of being a superior person. China has substantially greater numbers of video cameras strategically placed to monitor the streets where there are insufficient police to do so. Its theme is peace and harmony for all and its government is focused on anti corruption. A smart Australian government could have made best use of China following the pandemic, but belittles itself with its commentary. Many leaders including Morrison has not been to China, and therefore knows only what he has been told, in most cases by people who think, believe and assume, etc based on their third party knowledge.

@chrizzle6222 undoubtedly you were a self conscious tourist going to tourist locations but not knowing or understanding the people, and unable to understand the language. It is quite understandable that most people in western nations are extremely brain washed by governments only through differences in ideologies. The China of today is very different from the China of yesterday. The level of autocracy is no greater, contrary to popular belief. The only politician in Australia who entered into a none binding memorandum of understanding with China on its Belt and Road initiatives was Dan Andrews who did so only after a visit to China.
