@Earthsinger100 , yes I know. I have a friend in upper management of Entergy. It's very costly to maintain the FQ grid infrastructure even though that particular high point isn't as subject to as much sinking as other areas of the city. I think this is why they can get away with it there and possibly along some other ridges such as the Esplanade and Metairie ridges. I don't think you'd ever be able to get away with this in areas like Lakeview, Mid City, or most of the surrounding area. I've always been a proponent of going underground, especially in areas prone to hurricanes. I just realize that there are issues with swampy/sinking areas that make it cost prohibitive in most situations. ✌🏼

In a city with such sinking issues, I'm not certain it would be much better. It certainly would take a lot longer and more money to repair if something happened.

@Earthsinger100 , I forgot to add that fiber optic isn't carrying electricity, so it's an entirely different ball of wax. Light and water don't have the same reaction as high voltage electricity and water and as we both know, you don't have to dig down much more than a foot in most of that area to reach water.
