  1. If you’re looking at a UK car you can get the year from the plate. Eg SK05DRT would be 2005 but if it 55 would still be 2005 but second half of the year or early 06. Post 2010 the numbers changed to 15-65 for 2015 or early 2016. If that makes sense. Older cars are similar but the letter at the start denotes the year,say a 1984 ford fiesta would be A243AGG and B would be 85 and so on. When I moved to the UK in 1991 the new year plates were J reg as they were called. Although we didn’t have Q or Z as the Q was for cars that were written off of kit cars and Z was too similar to 2 so it was left out. I think that’s pretty accurate but I’m sure I’ll be corrected if not lol
