Again no one named as a source, and where did the records come from? The usual unsourced leaks and rumors. Could they be true, maybe. Could they be like the constant reports about Trump and Russian collusion and false, maybe. Could it be a political action like that which suppressed the Huntder Biden story, definitely. That was when they chose to suppress facts rather than report them.

Please reas War Without Mercy. This subject is far more complex than this program lets on. Were the Japanese cruel, yes by Western standards. For example, the Death March wasn't intentionally, the Japanese didn't expect the number of prisoners taken; and as a result not enough food and water had been provided. The loss of discipline among American and Fillipino troops led to the first troops at a food and water stop gorging on what was available or spoiling the remainder leaving nothing for the troops at the rear of the column. Additionally, as Japanese troops passed by one unit would beat the prisoners; while the next unit might give some food and water; in other words they didn't know what the next Japanese unit would do. So, rather than an intentional Death March, poor Japanese planning and poor discipline on both sides led to the tragedy at this point. This only one example of how issues have been simplified in their retelling. Much of the horror (and horror it was) came from cultural and social differences that neither side understood or accounted for in their planning or operations.
