@defeqel6537 Yes, people whose experience and knowledge is from thrillers, movies and TV; and have studied weapons and their effects assume a lot. You know what assuming does.

The girl with the knife appeared larger and heavier than the girl in pink who was walking toward then. V police and presenting no threat to them or annyone else. The attacker had no apparent justification for the attack.

@defeqel6537 it was mentioned and worth restating. Ammunition strong enough to stop a person will exceed 1,000 ft/sec at that range, modern 9mm would be somewhere from 1,100 to1,300 and expand as it went through. It is intended to penetrate 12 to 14 inches into the target. This means hitting an armor leg won't stop it, it will continue to travel and hit a person behind the target. If it hits an arm bone or leg bone, it may stop or break apart, no one can say where fragments would go; while a hit on the bone will probably break it so badly that permanent damage or amputation will result. A hit in the hand will have similar results, and probably be a through and through as well. The smaller bones in the hand would shatter and again result in permanent damage or amputation. I hate it when people think that what they saw in a movie or TV show is reality. While firearm wounds was what we were concerned with, I did have a great deal of first aid about injuries from certain events and what to do until medical aid arrives.

@defeqel6537 Agree, but a ricochet is unlikely in this case the impact on the arm or leg would have started the expansion and the cars structure should finish most of its energy if it passed through. This if the window area is not impacted, if that occurred a through shot I s more likely.

@defeqel6537 Agreed, but why would you ever intentionally shoot someone the foot? Physical damage aside, yes there could be a ricochet; but a small target thT leaves the shooter or assaulted you're stopping both hands and arms usable. Can't see the purpos.
