  1. The body was dug p from the grave and scavenged by animals and bones scattered, the job of figuring the cause of death is much harder. By the way, not turning over exculpatory evidence is a Brady Violation; and the case actually had gone to trial this came out, there is a real possibility that the case could be thrown out with prejudice which means no charges could be filed even if the found evidence. Also, the prosecutors could find themselves on the end of ethics charges (I have heard they were investigate without results) and possible civil chsrges. Not something that a prosecutor wants on their records.
