The last i heard the Feds charged him for falsifying the Fedefal purchase form. That is a non-violent offense with a max penalty of five years. He committed t hat offense in Indiana, so there is a question of jurisdiction. Do I think there is more here than meets the eye, yes. It was his car from Indiana they were driving. Why were they carrying a firearm that he bought in his car in Illinois? Where were they going and what were they intending to do before the stupidity of using a car with expired plates tripped the m up.

@kenadams4877 Sorry, you fill out a Federal form that if you are buying a firearm for yourself; lying on the form is a Federal crime regardless of the state. The charges are Federal not state. You should learn the facts before posting.

@brandonb3262 Unfortunately, I have to agree with you. The buyer was charged by the Feds the last that I heard; and the penalty for his offense (considered a non-violent crime) is a maximum of five years in prison. This means the bond is in line with the charges; however, I would wish that he could have been charged as an accessory to the murder and attempted murder charges. I do have a questions though, he bought the pistol and they were driving his vehicle; where were they going and why? The biggest question is was the straw buyer aware of what they intended to do? Providing the weapon and vehicle seems strange. I don't think that the officers were intentional targets, just that forgetting the tags were expired may caused the original plan not to be completed.
