  1. The truly forgotten war was the Soviet war against the Manchurian warlord in 1928. The Soviets got concessions after they won that war. Since the Japanese have actually been hostile to Russia (Imperial and Soviet) since 1700. The Japanese actions in Manchuria in 1931 needs to be viewed not just in reference to hostility with Japan but also fear of further Russian advances.
