  2. The people they were questioning don't catch crooks or prevent crime. The policies that they should already have in place should allow the actual working police to do that. Last night was the wrong time to look at plans and strategy; that should have been done months ago.

Bad as Capone and the mob were, they caused fewer innocent deaths, remember many of the mobsters learned murder during WWI and knew their weapons; not like the gang bangers. As far as being out of control, Daley the Elder (definitely crooked) still realized you had to have a healthy city to make money. It has been down hill ever since. Dumb crooks or ideologues running the show. Daley the Younger was a less effective version of the father but far better than the ideologues who followed him.

  7.  @JasonSmith-se1mt  it's past time that honest people make their voices heard. Run for elections at the lower. Level and cut off election fraud at the base by getting honest people elected. Then level by level oust the crooks when their minions no longer control the local level.

  8. The top cop doesn't really control violence. They aren't the tip of the spear, the officers on the street are the tip of the spear. Good policies enforced by the supervisors at the operational level stop crime. Moving officers, like deck chairs, won't solve the problem anymore than shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic would have stopped its sinking.

  14. I neither thumbed you up or down. You forgot the Chief doesn't work the streets. He is just a face for the men and women actually trying to do the work. Look at the releases from jail and prison and the abominable record of the States Attorney's office.

  15.  @julievalencia8633  A wise man once said if you give up freedom for safety, you end up with neither. I don't want a police state. How do prevent abuse. If people think the police are bad now, think what they could be like without any local control. Sometimes I wonder if the Progressive mayors a DAs actually want an excuse to form one.

  16.  @julievalencia8633  As to finger prints, they are taken routinely on arrest. DNA mainly in instances of rape or to confirm other evidence, i.e. match DNA at a crime scene.
