Not legally, he had to have lied on his application for his FOID Card and later on the purchase form since there is evidence of psychiatric care. Why was there was no police reports that would have prevented issuing the FOID Card? Why was there no Red Flag action (Illinois has that law, and threats to his family and suicidal tendencies both qualify)? Why were no questions asked concerning his posts on line, especially when conservatives are banned for less? Just perhaps honest government could have prevented this tragedy. Sue the local and state authorities for their failures, sue the family for not reporting him.
