@valevisa8429 Lets see, Great Britain gun bans, now knife bans and besides that acid attacks. So knives and acid have replaced firearms. Banning firearms won't address violence. The vast majority (actually 99% plus) of legal gun owners never commit an act of violence against others. Most "mass shooting as defined by anti-2A advocates are gang related and tied to other criminal activities. So, le5s reduce violence, the real issue, and to do that lets go after criminals which in too many cases are teens that have already become career criminals.

By the way, the most 9ften dropped charge at least in Chicago and C(r)ook County is illegal possession of a firearm, even when it was present when the crime was committed. This is usually part of a plea deal that reduces the severity of the crime; and therefore saves court time at the expense of making the criminals action have a reduced consequence. This bull goes on until the criminal really can't be ignored and the hammer drops; at which point complaints of unequal punishment begin. Think about it and check if you think that I am wrong.

@newtheis i haven't heard the source. Where did youget your info. It was stated that he had a criminal record; so no FOID Card should have been issued. If he had a FOID Card, either he lied to obtain 9ne or used a false identity. The first is a state crime and the second is a Federal crime. The alternative is someone or someones failed to do their job either out of corruption or negligence. Finall, he would have had to lie of the Federal form completed when you buy a firearm, a Federal crime. So, big surprise, a criminal lied to obtain a weapon, if it was bought at a gun store. Big surprise, multiple failures at state level if the purchase went through. Bigger surprise you can't enforce existing laws on criminale; why do you believe the state will do better with laws that require even greater restrictions and more government employee work?

@zoejackson79 Since no one has mentioned an AR15, how do you know that one was involved. Most criminal shootings are done by hand guns. Suicides are excluded from my comments since at least one state has legalized that and many liberals are OK with it as long as a doctor does it. Strange the result is the same, death.

@butchnoneed4883 Sorry, it isn't that easy if Federal law is followed. A private sale probably could be made; however in FFLs are supposed to follow the rulez.

@bradcraig5111 Illinois FOID Card isn't something magic. I have in the past bought ammunition and long arms in Northwest Indiana, but they will not sell hand guns. I am not sure about that any more.. I have an acquaintance in Central Indiana who is an FFL and he can sell me nothing unless it is sent to an Illinois FFL who is required to both complete the forms and check my FOID Card with the state.
