At this point, the only charge is possible criminal threats. All the rest, unless there are firearms charges, seem to be nothing substantial. Yes, a lot of questionable, but the idea that the stopped a mass shooting assumes that he intended to shoot. There was no evidence presented for that. Red Flags yes, seizure of weapons under the state laws could be supported but mass shooting is an opinion at this point from what I heard.

@loadapish There is a line between threats and legitimate fear. Sadly, we have introduced Red Flag laws to deal with legitimate threats; the problem is when is the threat valid. Red Flag laws can be misused and depend on people assessing what is a threat; in one recent case, the police had been called in the past. They judged that the threat wasn't valid so no action was taken, this allowed the shooter to buy a firearm (which he couldn't have done otherwise) and attacked. There in lies the problem, unlike a movie a few years ago,no one can predict who is actually planning or seriously thinking of committing a crime. The government at all levels isn't God like able to see what is in people's hearts and minds, nor is any person of which I am aware .

@FC-qe1wl The question, is that fair? In today's social environment it is unfortunately true; but in reality how many times have people said the shooter was a quiet person and couldn't believe it. A quiet person who holds his/her anger in can explode with extreme violence where someone who verbally lashes out may never actually resort to violence.
