  1. Their opinion is dumb. If the teens were fleeing the police in a possibly stolen car and went into the pond while doing so; what was the amilies' responsibility. Did they know what the girls did? Were the girls ever taught how to deal with the law ? Most importantly didn't anyone tell them that crime was wrong? The police aren't trained or equipped for water rescue in most jurisdictions. So holding them responsible for this isn't even sane.
