The production lines were eliminated when the contract was finished. You would have to rebuild those lines, which would cost as much as building a new line for a new fighter.

Give you another bone to chew on, the armed Hueys that the 1st Spec Ops Wing had in the early 70s, actually had videos of them killing fighters that were trying to down them in exercises. As this point is made in the video, low and slow and able to maneuver in that situation can trump the better fighter.

After Korea, we finally came up with a stsndard of being able to fight two major fronts (like the European and Pacific Theaters of Operations) and a simultaneous lesser theater. Today, we could barely fibht one peer opponent at a time. We are faced potentially wigh Russia in Europe, China in Asia, and Iran o n the Middast. Does that sound like what we ysed to plan for?
