A little history lesson is needed. Its roots are found in the se,f criticism groups used by the communists. Then look at the brainwashing of allied (mainly US) troops. It was most effective with people with limited knowledge of the US Government and history. Those people were the ones most affected by the brainwashers, add a system of rewards and punishments, and you succeed. Why control of the education process was identified as a communist goal in the 1970's. The numbers of young communists and socialists today reflect the ideological conditioning that started when they had no knowledge except what they are told.
