@HenrikKarapetyan I can understand that position, and I don't totally dismiss it; however Russia was dabbling in independence movements in a number of areas starting in the late 1800s. In point of fact the terrorist who murdered the archduke that was the excuse that started WWI was part of a group funded by the Pan-Slavic movement in Moscow with the money passed through the Serbian government. It is that kind of meddling that makes ethnic hatred really toxic. As I said, fear of dispised minority makes genocide easy. That action is never right, but the reasons are often extremely complex and contain many reasons for occurring.

The problem was Armenian desire for freedom. The problem was Russian support and Armanian joining them, this created fear. So, was genocide due to just racial or was this much more complex, make your own choice. Notice this originator mentioned the war and Russians but minimized that issue.

This under estimates the degree of fear of uprisings and 5th column type activities among those not in the immediate area. The usual issue when a disliked minority seems to support an a crime enemy.

@HenrikKarapetyan Anti minority inside the Ottoman Empire usually meant anti Christian and other Moslem sects than their own. This is something you can see in all Moslem countries up until the last 100 years or so, and is still a fact some Moslem countries today. Betore 8t is brought up, similar issues applied in Christian countries; mostly this disappeared. The most t violent religious clashes among Christians today are in countries where they emerged from Moslem rule, such as the Balkans where people persecution hardened attitudes. So, I still feel the Armenian genocide was more complex than racial or ethnic origins.
