Chicago spends more per student than most of the state ( there are districts that spend more), yet ranks among the lowest in out comes. My wife taught there. The last year she was there, she was knocked down and suffered a concusion that kept her home for two weeks while trying to break up a fight between two Black students . The aggressor was a student who still hadn't passed for two years and was the size of a full grown man,and he was the one who knocked her down. As I said, she was out for 2 weeks. The student was back in class the next day with no effective discipline. A few weeks later in a different class, he got I a fight again; but this time, action was taken because the parents threatened to sue. This illustrates two things, liberal administrations excuse bad behavior; and that when they finally act, they take action that seems severe since they have done anything earlier.

Name calling of any kind is unacceptable and absolutely no excuse for murder.

@serratedchimera3871 It isn't always the teachers, check out yous school board, principles and deans. Those people can make good v te a chess look bad if they want to keep their jobs. By the way, a teacher fired one place has trouble getting another.

@hangingwiththegrlz4891 One problem, the more children diagnosed means more money and staff and higher pay for whoever is in charge. This leads to over diagnosis, and many special classes are paced at the rate of the slowest student meaning much a student with a specific deficiency needs doesn't get covered, and often either acting out or turning off occurs putting a student who had a specific issue in a tail spin downward. In theory there is an individual learning plan and the student is mainstreamed from anywhere from one class to most of them. That doesn't always solve the issue since the other students aren't always kind.
