The reason for the addiction, according to most that i have read,, was due to an aircraft accident after the war. It occurred in Sweden after his marriage.

@12yearssober As a world leader, he was an insane (paranoid) man who never should have held that high a role. Stalin was cut from the same cloth, just hated differently; and actually killed more people.

@12yearssober He ran a command economy where a small number of people with total control decided what would be built, how much it would cost and how much people were paid. He allowed no freedom of expression, used secret police and informers to keep people in line, and terrorized people into compliance, hardly a place a sane person would like to live. He also destroyed everything that he had accomplished by 1945. Hardly a role model for any sane man.
