  1. US did end bio work as a result of the 72 Treaty. After an anthrax accident in the late 1970s, verified by internation in spection after the fall of the Soviet Union, the US began to take defensive planning efforts.

  2.  @seaman-d1w  Nice double negative. Can you restate what you meant. When I left the service, new chemical detection equipment and masks were being adopted. I can't say what happened after the US leadership drank the believe the Russian Kool-aid again.

  3. There is no comparison between SL-1 and Windscale. The plume from Windscale reached Scandinavia and is essentially closed to Chernobyl than SL-1, although there were differences, both were carbon graphite moderated reactors. Windscale was caused by a Weigner Release that melted fuel rods while Chernobyl had a Weigner Release that caused the water cooling tubes in the graphite to melt and there was a hydrogen and steam explosion. Both also had fires. There were a number of other issues, but these were the not Germain to the similarities.

  5. Sorry, I was till typing. Sorry, the US didn't have a bio weapons research program in the 1930's. That doesn't say that we never did but at the time the Soviets began their research; we didn't have a true bio war program.
