  1. The Mensheviks (Russian word for minority) controlled the April 1917 revolution, and won the elections for the Duma (Parliament) that first sat in October. The Bolsheviks (Russian word for majority) only won a small minority of seats; however, it strength was in the military. On the first meeting, they entered the hall with armed naval and army personnel, placed a armed troop behind each none Bolshevik member. Then proceeded to vote themselves into control of the government and dissolved the Duma.

  2.  @bennatan  They targeted recruitment in key areas, mai n ly the navy and enlisted ranks. They also had strength insome key labor unions. I would say that they had strength, just not numbets of members.
