@charlesvan13 I am Finnish, so my stance is kinda biased. Still I understand why healthcare system like in Finland wouldn't be sustainable in America than in Finland. America has more people, thus more "customers" but also more risks. The health insurance system is kinda limited cause even if hazards would be relatively as common as in, let's say, Finland (5 million population). Compare it to America where population is over 300 million (I just picked that up without googling, might be wrong). Even if hazard rate would be same 1%, it still means more hazards in America due population. And higher will to take risks likely means greater percentage. Thus the cost becomes so high that the system is not able to provide even basic levels of services there could be. Of course I still believe that everyone, despite of their place in society's hierarchy, should get one's treatment, but I realize it has its costs. I personally think that while there are things where it is fine to ask people to have some self responsibility, I am bit iffy to make exception when it comes down to health care. Like I said, I am biased.
As a Finn, who actually has benefitted from this tax-payed system, I am fine with it and do not consider myself justified to take it away from others who might need it for real (religious reasons), but realize that it also requires those who are able, to find ways to work themselves and build up system so it can uphold itself (whether by finding good job, upholding one's own health, etc...). America however has so wide customer pool that it is possible to make some nice bucks even in niche market (and also, if one does not have it in oneself, to be enterpreteuner, can still find their living as regular worker, somewhat). I think this is a thing which every community or state must decide themselves and make system suitable to their cause. The idea of self-sufficiency is so deep-rooted to America's psyche that I believe it could be able to create working system which also is able to keep oneself upheld without becoming too bloated or taken as granted.
