  1. If it's been driven relatively sedately throughout its life, then what about giving it a decent run in third on the interstate too get the revs up, and use heavy throttle as much as possible? It's worked on a couple of cars I had, including a definite smoker. Was fine after that. Not saying it'll fix what you're driving there, but, if the engine is gonna have to be stripped anyway, then why not give it a blast to "blow the cobwebs out"? I like the injector substitution plan - it had definite possibilities. I believe that some of those Camry and RAV 4 engines are somewhat sub-par in the oil control department. Not like ye olde 5S-FE.
