  2. 3rd generation Hi-Ace on dirt roads. There's a universal joint on the bottom of the steering column. It broke, all abraded to shit, so it was lucky it was only in second gear, going uphill. Dumb design. Damaged the van a bit, falling into a ditch, but it must have broken later on after I sent the entire column away to be rebuilt, as the last owner lost all steering at speed, and the thing looked like a squashed can. He lived - just. Pity - it was a good van.
