Why would Canada want to do it is USA is a good neighbor? Putin does not want Ukraine to exist as a separate and independent state. American president never said anything like "i is not a real country" unlike Putin's and Ukraine's case. It was never about Nato. Ukraine had no wil to join before 2014 and no chance to join after 2014. Nato is an excuse, not a reason. It is about Putin's legacy. He wants russian empire back. Finland has the biggest land border with Russia. Poland joined 25 years ago. Lithuania in 2004. Nato is at Russia's borders for decades. Nobody would invade Russia anyway so what is your point? Nato is an excuse and your whataboutism is invalid. USA is a super power. Russia is not.

@johnm7267 Afghanista failure was one of the reasons why USSR collapsed. More ruined land to provide is not a win for Russia either.

@momodoukebbeh My point is it was a failure. Many men died, sovet economy was in such a terrible shape Moscow had no power to kee Eastern Europe under its boot anymore. It was no Moscow's good will to let it go. As for Vetnam and Afghanistan there was no oint in staying there any longer. They were not "chased". It was lack of purpose and people's will. Does Putin care what his eople's will is? I do not think so. He cares about his own power and ego only. He has always wanted Ukraine back. Nato is an excuse for him, not a reason.

@trqster Give me a break. Russia is the biggest country on earth. So much land and so much resources and stll Russia's gd is more or less the same as Spain's. You should ask yourself why. Putin and people around him are the first ones to be greedy about it. They steal it. Average Russians has nothing from it. Nobody had any plans to invade Russia. Itis Russia which invaded non Nato country just because she could.

@johnm7267 Nobody would invade nuclear ower country so who is Russia afraid of? Putin invaded non Nato neighbor just because he could and wanted to. He wants Ukraine. Guess what? Eastern European countries joined Nato as quicly as they could because they knew Russia would come back one day and they were right. They have their own security concerns. They did not invade Russia and had no plans to do so. It is always Russia which keeps making mess in Eastrn Europe, not the opposite. Eastern Europe is not russian backyard and Eastern Europeans owe Russia nothing I "love" how everybody keeps ignoring Eastern Europe's concerns, will and voice n all of this as if it did not matter.

@fingerprint8479 Russia was supposed to respect Ukraine's independence and borders according to Budapest Memorandum signed in 1994 . He has been paying separatists in Donbas for years.

Is Ukraine Nato member? No. Putin knows if Ukraine had been in Nato, he would have never been able to invade it. Putin invaded because he could and wanted to. Nobody would invade Russia. Russia invaded non Nato country and blames her victim for calling the olice.
