Some Polish land used to be German but Germany does not invade Poland once again to get former lands back in 2022. Former satelite states of Russia joined Nato for a reason. They know Russia good enough to be naive and stay outside like Ukraine. Joning Nato it's a choice of every independent state and they were the only one to decide about their pacts not Russia. It's none of Russia's business. If all your neighbours are afraid of you, it means you are the problem and stop playing the victim card.

Second of all if Russia was a good neighbour, there would be no need to join Nato to be secured. Putin needs excuses to simply annex Ukraine because he knows he can ot invade Nato members. Russia loves annexing every time it can. Russia still occupies 20% of Georgia which is non Nato country. Blaming Nato expanson is like blaming a victim for calling the police because she did not want to be hurt anymore. Easter Europe is not Russia's backyard anymore and their pact choices is ut to them, not up to Putin. Putin is paranoid. He needs excuses to justify his greed. War in Ukraine is not about Nato. Russia loves taking all USSR glory of WWII but for Easter Europe they were anything but liberators. Why is Russia so suprised many its former soviet satelites turned their back on it on joined Nato? Russia was never a friendly neighbour. There are 3 options when you border Russia. Being Russia's puppet like Belarus, being Russia's victim like Ukraine or being Nato member like Poland.
