He says Ukraine is not a real country. Putin wants russian empire back. If Ukraine had been in Nato, Putin would have never invaded Ukraine.

Putin wants to annex Ukraine because he wants russian empire back and he knows he can invade non Nato neighbour only.Ukraine has no nukes and had no chance to join in the nearest future. Putin needs excuses to annex Ukraine. Nato expansion is bs excuse for Putin to justify his greed.
