The whole hisory of Eastern Europe is about Russia's expansionism. Russia is not their master. It is not a "special need" country to demand anything. Get over it. If Russia was a good neighbor, there would be no need to join Nato in order to be safe. Other country's pact choice is none of Russia's bussines. Nato never invaded Russia. He wants is as a part of Russia.Nobody invades nuclear powers. Nato never did that to Russia. Nato is an excuse, not a reason. The reason is Putin's ego and legacy. He wants Ukraine. He could invade non Nato Ukraine only. He did ot invade Poland, Finland or Lithuania which also border Russia and are Nato members. He wants Ukraine. Mearsheimer is stucked in Cold war era when Eastern Europeans had no agenda and no voice. Russians love him for a reason. Nothing to be proud of.

He did not care when Finland joined. Because he wants Ukraine to become a part of Russia. Nato expansion is bs excuse. Putin knew if Ukraine had been in Nato, he would have never invaded Ukraine. Blaming Russia's neighbors for joining nato is like blaming a victm for calling the police because she bdid not want to be abused anymore. Russia has always been a bad neighbor, Nato has nothing to do with it. Excuse is what it is. Just another excuse to justify Putin's ego.
