  1. I lived in Australia for fifty three years now, but I've been coming back to the UK every few years over the last twenty years. I was first interested to find the music on the radio station on my hire car was interrupted by either traffic or weather report (can't remember which). This sounds like another attempt to put people in a permanent crisis mode. Even in Australia, on the rare occasion I hear the mainstream news, it's always some crisis or emergency of one sort or another. Then to show that they have some degree of humanity they show a clip of a dog who can ride a surf board or some crap.

  2. I'm seventy-four and since I was a kid, I always considered David Attenborough the 'gold standard' of British television. Now, I can't watch him. When he initially expressed an opinion on climate change, I thought that he of all people was entitled to have his voice heard. When he aligned himself with Greta Thunberg, he lost me completely. It's a shame; he almost made it to the finish line.

  3. Personally, I use to like the old style talent contest shows where half of them were completly talentless with delusions of stardom, only to face the acid tongue reality of the 'bad boy' judge.

  6. I was born in Britain but have lived in Australia for fifty four years. I have returned to the UK on seven occasions with several visits to London as late as six years ago. It's always given me a sense of 'place' (and even 'awe') when I've gone there. Wild horses couldn't drag me there now.

  7. I live in Australia, and I must admit, I've always enjoyed watching Stephen Fry's various forms of appearances on television (Blackadder, QI, etc). Apart from his aethistic views and criticisms of the church (with which I agree), I haven't seen or heard these recent occurrences. It's always a shame when you see a well-known public figure who you've previously admired, just ruin it all. There's been a few of them in the last few years.

  8. Are you even allowed to be a comedian anymore? When they use the term (or acronym) Black Lives Matter, it's interesting when one considers that there was a video clip going around a few months ago featuring several people claiming that if they hear you respond by saying "All lives matter", they'll punch you in the face. I'm guessing when they display 'BLM' they actually mean 'OBLM' (Only Black Lives Matter).
