I live in Australia, and it can take me about an hour and a half to mow my lawn. It looks quite nice (providing we've had sufficient rain to make it nice and green) with the edges that meet the concrete driveway all nicely trimmed. A couple of weeks ago, it was 38⁰C as I suffered through the process and questioned my sanity.

@thomasrobert4654 I've got a whole family of toads who reveal themselves in large numbers particularly on warm wet nights. I also have regular visitations from various birds including Lorikeets, Corellas, Galahs, Doves, Crested pigeons, Peewits, Wagtails, Honey birds, Sparrows and the occasional Ibis. Growing fruit can be a difficult thing in Queensland without a lot of pest control. I grew a nice tomato vine at one stage which eventually succumbed to one sort of grub or another. A friend who lives not far from us has some residential koalas and possums which in turn attract rather large snakes.

@barkmaker I live about 50 kilometres north of Brisbane in what used to be fairly rural. Naturally, people have to have somewhere to live and there's still quite a bit of development going on. Over the thirty one years I've lived at this location there hasn't been any appreciable loss of bird life. Obviously whatever creatures were here before been moved elsewhere but I don't have to travel too far to find them. If I drive any more than twenty minutes west of where I live at night means additional diligence in avoiding Kangaroos or Wombats. My son came home in his brand-new Toyota Corolla with the legs of a large hare sticking out of his front grill, where the impact had pushed it between the now broken plastic grill and the radiator!
