I emigrated to Australia in January 1970, so my last 'Guy Fawkes' night was in 1969. I seem to recall private purchase of fireworks was banned around that time. I remember there was a tragic case (amongst many burns cases) where an elderly lady ad a firework go down the front of her dress and she was burnt to death. As a kid 'bonfire night' was one of the highlights of the year.
