  1. While there are indisputable similarities, this sort of thing has been going on for decades since World War two without sliding into a global conflict. Korea, Malaya, Aden, Muscat and Oman, Suez crisis Vietnam, Bosnia, just off the top of my head. That's not even including major conflicts in the Middle East. When you think about it, we haven't stopped fighting. The big difference now is that weaponry is devastating to the point of anhialation, which probably offers some degree of caution before going 'all out'.
