The acceptance of nationality varies quite a bit. When I was kid, my father was in the RAF and I lived and played amongst kids; many of whom had been born outside the UK during the posting of their fathers (mostly) to overseas locations. In those days, kids just assumed the nationality of their father. It seems though, only the British are criticised for attempting to specify their own ethnicity. Everywhere else seem s to demand an acceptance of the wonder and flavour of their origins.
